I am not super educated on the controversy admittedly so I was just curious. The transphobia comments I heard about were a long while back, and just yesterday, after I posted this thread, was the first time I heard about them since. It's very interesting. Obviously JK is going to make a lot of money from this... but there's also so many developers behind the game that treat this as artwork and from the gameplay I've seen it looks beautiful... like the Harry Potter game fans have always wanted.

So I guess I am a little torn now. But it also just broke records for the biggest release in gaming history. And I wonder if the controversy only fueled that fire.

I'm not going to tell you how to spend your money but the developers have been paid and this game doing well is only going to lead to more games which people will say they have to buy for the developers, etc.

And im sure this game would have done well regardless. People treat being a fan of HP like it's a personality and would probably eat this game no matter how mid it is.

Also the plot of the game involves a goblin uprising with the evil big nose banker goblins killing people and stealing children. I can't help but feel it's a bit overtly anti-Semitic.

i saw some gameplay streams and it looked interesting. idk if i have the time or more importantly the motivation to commit to a playthrough atm but its a game i wouldnt mind playing sometime down the line

Literally read the ign review and it's just complaint after complaint and he still gives it a 9 at the end.

I want to preface that I am a huge supporter of the trans community and LGBTQ+ community in general. Just because someone wants to play a video game, does not make them against an entire community. It's a personal choice one would need to make, and I could see people on both sides being right and wrong.
