I can't seem to find a map that they made yesterday, but we started two rooms north of here... North from here should have a locked door on the northern side.

I have a card key that can open a locked door. We initially thought the reason that door was locked was because it was our starting room and we didn't think we could get on the other side. But now, I'm intrigued. I wonder what is on the other side.

Actually, we were east of here and one room north to start. That door was locked. Don't know if it can be opened or not.

Also actually I would ignore those ? rooms in the top left. That was a misunderstanding of someone's role, if I remember correctly.

Did they claim something they were not?

No, but they were told the nearest monster was x grids west, x grids north or something, and they thought it was 2 different monsters or something.

As much as I'd like to go exploring and looking for your group, I can't leave the girl behind. So if her mind is truly set on going up that elevator, I'll follow suit.

I saw stairs on the map. Guess I should look at what's right in front of me.

Stairs, elevators, was there truly a difference in the end? When you've ascended into the heart of darkness, does it matter how you arrived? Or is the ascension itself all that matters? When all the little ants come marching, they don't follow the beat of their own drum. They follow the drum of the universe, of life itself. For what matters is the destination. All else is neither here nor there.

I grunted and shrugged my shoulders, trying to maintain my manly, hardened image. But deep down, I knew the girl was right, per usual. I hadn't been hugged, not truly, since the day before Starla left upon the Dalia. My guilt weighed me down so heavily it kept me from showing any affection since. But goddamn if I didn't want it, didn't need it. Some would act as if men are supposed to be androids, devoid of all emotion, constant providers, constant protectors. Even after three hundred years off Earth, this notion still held true now more than ever. But to that I say: baloney! I was raised to be this way, and it's a cage I find myself unable to break out of to this day. But goddamn if I didn't see the bars. Don't make it right, don't make it an excuse, but it is what it is. Maybe some day I will escape this cage and feel the warm sun upon my face again. Rescuing Starla would certainly do the trick. But if the unthinkable should happen...would I stay in the cage forever? Would anyone ever come around and break the lock?

I'm...I'm alright, kid. Don't worry about me.

comes up behind Francis, looks at him with his hand dangling above his shoulder, and finally gives him a pat

You'll be alright, mate.
