I've been on a serious platformer grind recently and wanted to see if any of you had any favorites. I'm sure I'm missing some but below are the ones I can think of off the top of my head that I've loved in no particular order --

Definition: A platform game (often simplified as platformer or jump 'n' run games) is a video game genre and subgenre of action games in which the core objective is to move the player character between points in a rendered environment. Platform games are characterized by their level design featuring uneven terrain and suspended platforms of varying height that requires use of the player character's abilities, such as jumping and climbing, to navigate the player's environment and reach their goal. Other acrobatic maneuvers may factor into the gameplay as well, such as swinging from objects such as vines or grappling hooks, jumping off walls, air dashing, gliding through the air, being shot from cannons or bouncing from springboards or trampolines.

I've never beaten the old old Super Mario Bros and Yoshi games and Donkey Kong Country and Sonic and Kirby (the non-3D platformer ones) but I've always enjoyed them. Some of them you can't really SAVE which is why it's always been a pain. I will add them here as honorary mentions but since I haven't beaten them I can't really call out specifics. Played them so much as a kid though.

Never beat Hollow Knight either because it was so fucking hard and I rage quit. It was really good though.

Always wanted to try Shovel Knight, Rayman, Ratchet & Clank, and Crash Bandicoot. Been an Xbox guy my whole life so I haven't had the option to play some.

Pretty sure I played Little Big Planet but I forget.

Celeste was really good

Heard good things about that one! Seems more oldschool but I guess that's what it's going for so I never tried it.

I wish there was a way for me to play the Ratchet and Clank games!

Ori is up there for me

Older but Tomba! and Tomba! 2 are fantastic games that not enough people have played.

Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 will probably forever be my favs

INSIDE is up there, def worth checking out if you liked Limbo

Cuphead is my favorite platformer ever AESTHETICALLY, I just wish they had an easy mode (:

The Trine games are high up there for me as far as multiplayer platformers go

also Human Fall Flat ofc

Oh yes I’ve played Inside and Human Fall Flat and enjoyed both. HFF got old rather quickly tho
