Twistee of the Week - Round 1
Our inaugural Twistee of the Week for season 7 is...
Kat! She's followed closely behind by her Ozato alliance-mate Sugar, with a difference of just over one placement point separating them. Considering the narrative of the round revolved heavily around the two of them and they both proved to be very likeable, this shouldn't be too much of a surprise. The dichotomous anomaly that is Spencer also finds himself in the top 10, despite having probably the most varied individual rankings of any contestant (highest placement 1, lowest placement 23). Strong confessionalists JFP and Butch both crack the top 5 despite not having a huge influence over the direction of the round, and another well-loved Ozato queen, Dana, rounds that 5 out.
Ozato is clearly our favoured tribe this round, comfortably taking out the top spot four placement points ahead of the second-placing Ki. Three members of their most prominent alliance run a monopoly over the top 5, and despite being our first boot, Tom still manages to fall towards the middle of the pack. The charisma and investment of the Ozato players is clearly evident to all of us, and I can only hope it'll persist for as long as they all remain in the game.
It's worth nothing that the most dominant and arguably most active tribe, Sakai, actually fared the worst in terms of overall tribal rankings. It's surely due to a combination of some of their members being reasonably polarizing (Caleb, Julia) and two of their members being downright unlikeable or inactive over the course of the round (Matty, Brad). Despite forming a superalliance that managed to snag the Ukiyo merchant idol in round one, their highest ranking player is in 6th place, making Sakai the only tribe not to be represented into the top 5. It'll be interesting to see whether there will be a turnaround as to the VL's opinion on them next round.
Finally, I just want to say THANKS to everyone for submitting their rankings this round! With our old format we only averaged around 5-7 responses per round, but I think the new streamlined poll/PMing thing should hopefully prompt a constant high level of responding for the whole of the season. Having such a large number and variety of PWs responding gives a more comprehensive overview of how the VL is feeling, which makes things more fun for the players to read post-season. Cheers, y'all!

Twistee of the Week - Round 2
Claiming the throne again this week, our top Twistee is
Kat! The Ozato tribe heads off to tribal again after another devastating loss, and Kaptain Kat remains in the most secure position of the lot while continuing to give amazing confessionals. Butch takes second place next to his queen (how romantic). Caleb notably jumps up 7 places from 11th to 4th as a result of... well, I am actually not sure. He apparently just experienced a sudden surge in likeability this week and became the most popular Sakai member amongst the PWs (spoiler: it doesn't last). ETA: Oops I guess the idol probably had something to do with it??
James returns from his Easter weekend vacation and makes a great impression on all of his tribemates (and us, with his super cool video confessional), boosting him up a MASSIVE 10 spots, making him this week's ~biggest mover~. Debbie can now add Twistee Ranking Climber to her Deb's Jobs list, rising 3 places to give the Aso tribe two players in the top 5, despite being widely considered the most uninteresting tribe. JFP holds his position in third. Time will tell whether he manages to take the top spot from Kat over the next little while. In other Ki news, Spencer rubs a few more people the wrong way and drops 4 places to fall just outside the top 10, while Marisa, presumably by virtue of being adorable and basically the antithesis of villainous Spencer, manages to climb 3 spots to fall just outside the top 5. Funny how that works. Guess nice guys don't finish last after all.
Despite Dana and Sugar dropping 3 and 5 places respectively this week, Ozato remains the most popular tribe overall. Alexis loses only one place during her boot round, five places ahead of Ki's tribal victim, Baylor. The remainder of the tribal rankings also remain the same, with Sakai's domination apparently going unappreciated, and polarizing Brad/inactive Matty continuing to sink their average.
Next round brings the swap, and we're no doubt in for some major shake-ups with all the drama surrounding the self-selection exile twist. Stay tuned!

Twistee of the Week - Round 3
For the third round in a row
Kat is our fave, this time by a bigger margin than ever and with a very low average placement! She's matched Jenna's run in India thus far - will she continue to do so next week?
Let's get to everyone else. It's obvious that the swap and how it was handled by the players had a pretty major influence on our rankings this week. Brad, who prior to the swap was unpopular with viewers and players alike, skyrockets 12 places to find himself in the top 10, having become a rootable underdog with righteous vengeance to exact against those who wronged him on his original tribe. The loveable core 3 from original Ozato have taken a monopoly over the top 5, with masterful middle player JFP and loveable character Debbie helping them out. Sugar makes a bang on her way out and manages to seize 4th place for the round despite her (untimely) elimination. "Mountain Cult" leader Caleb plummets 11 places to 15th (told you the rise would be short lived), and Butch drops 4 places to fall outside of the top 5, probably at least in part to his pushy attitude during the swap, but mostly because all of the swapfucked coasters (except Sash, who ranks lower than most of the pre-jurors lol) saw surges in popularity this round, pushing him out of his former placement. Spencer drops yet another spot from last round, and Julia fails to climb out of her 9th place rut, despite being a likeable and talented player. I have no doubt that if she was in a less overbearing position in the game, she would be much higher up in these rankings.
The good balances out the bad on Sakai, and they're our top tribe for the round, beating out the relatively inert Ki tribe by just over one placement point. If the Mountain Cult continue to get their way, we can expect this to change before the next swap. Our original tribe rankings remain stagnant, with the gap between the well-loved Ozato girls and the other three tribes getting even bigger. Werk.

Twistee of the Week - Round 4
THE QUEEN HAS BEEN DETHRONED.
Dana is our top Twistee this week! Considering that she's a scrappy underdog, played an idol, and posted a HEART WRENCHING video confessional (ilysm Tricks), this isn't a huge surprise. HOWEVER, Kat only missed out on the top spot by a MINUSCULE 0.06 placement points, so we could very well see her take over again next week.
Spencer has kind of stopped hating everyone as much, and so we have stopped hating him as much in return, allowing him to rise five places and return to his week 1 spot at #7. Eliza and Jefra both rise 3 spots, and I'm wondering if it's because people credited them for STICKING IT TO CALEB (who, by the way, dropped another 3 spots to 18th this week, and probably would have been lower if it wasn't for Ratalie putting him first every round) a round in advance. Really, though, both of them look like they're ready to take the game by storm, and I'm excited to see what future rounds bring for them (and very glad that Brendan has now surpassed his Twisted 4 placement). The Brad hype seems to have passed as quickly as it came about in the first place, seeing him drop back to a mediocre 12th place. Despite being eliminated, Sugar still outranks like, 7 or 8 players still in the game, which is equal parts hilarious and tragic. Sash, who I am pretty sure has only avoided being at the very bottom of every ranking by virtue of his still being present in the game over the likes of Chicken, who was at least entertaining during his short stay, was mercifully eliminated over Queen Debbie (still top 5, y'all), and will probably maybe be 24th every week for the rest of forever now.
One final interesting thing to note about the player rankings is the fact that the top 5 have averages that are around 5 placement points or more lower than everyone from the top 6 onwards. This suggests that there are a core of very popular players in this game who are in control of the lion's share of VL support... and none of them are from original Sakai. Huh. Go team!
Nothing too exciting to report on the tribe rankings front. Ozato continues to slay, Sakai continues to lag behind. I guess original Sakai kind of have a disadvantage in the fact that they have more players still in the game to potentially get them terrible placements (side eyes Caleb and Matty), but in saying that, Aso had Sash. So there.

Twistee of the Week - Rounds 5 & 6
Dana is still on top this week, and the gap between her and Kat has widened a little! Could this be a sign of things to come? :sideeye: Our top 3 stays stagnant, with JFP filling in the third place slot. Butch and Debbie switch positions and tragically get booted back to back, with Butch's decision to not help Debbie mutiny apparently coming back to bite him in the ass. The remaining original Aso members look to be in a rather unfortunate position moving forward. Only time will tell if #DenyingDebbie will turn out to have been a game-ending mistake for the other Aso boys. Eliza hits her highest placement of the season so far as the non-believers finally begin to see the light and join her fan club. James also sees a surge in popularity that has him climbing four spots to fall just outside the top 5. His fellow original Ki members, Spencer and Marisa, experience the opposite, falling one and four places respectively. Spencer is as polarizing as ever, and Marisa has kind of gone MIA, making her considerably less rootable. Caleb, despite still being hugely visible, stays in the bottom half of the ranking, likely thanks to his indignant ragefit over not being given Shogun immunity by his ally Eliza.
This set of rounds also sees Sydney crash six places to 20th, outranked by 3 voted out players. This is likely due to her incessant and unsubstantiated shade and rudeness towards Reynold and other players in the game, and her constant complaining about... well, everything. Speaking of Reynold[/color], he experiences a lift in popularity this round, moving up from 15th to 12th, and Gervase also advances two spots to 14th. This can probably be explained by the fact that both of them are major underdogs following the eliminations of two of their original tribemates, and who doesn't love a good underdog?

Twistee of the Week - Round 7
AHHH IT'S SWAP TIME!
Dana is queen once again, and this time she has the best average placement of the season thus far for added bragging rights. The gap continues to expand between her and Kat, but our top 3 are still solid, with JFP closing the gap on Kat. James continues to climb the ranks, finding himself a spot inside the top 5 (may I remind y'all that this was the guy who was ranked 22nd in the first round due to not being around? He's most certainly made up for that absence!). The most rootable/least insufferable members of original Sakai, Eliza and Jefra, each climb two spots. Spencer plummets five places, and I can only assume it's because of his... interesting... voice confessional in which he suggested that Michele stops playing ORGs in order to stop her family members from dying. K.
The Aso boys Reynold (R.I.P.) and Gervase are the underdog stars again this week. Reynold shoots up 6 spots just in time for his unfortunate elimination and makes an ~epic~ speech on his way out. Gervase becomes even more of an underdog as a result. Gervase also provides some pretty great insights in a catch up confessional (better late than never!). Sydney drops even further, which is no surprise considering her shitty parchment for Reynold and generally unacceptable attitude towards others. Julia[/color] and Caleb are still not faring well with the VL at large, despite their belief that the #Juleb ship is everyone's fave. Funny that.

Twistee of the Week - Round 8

Our top 3 has finally experienced a bit of a shake up this week! Kat, who hasn't placed lower than top 2 all season, drops to 5th after she suddenly makes Caleb (who is still struggling between 16th/17th place, btw) her #1, which doesn't exactly mix well with her promise to destroy the Mountain cult. This obviously struck a NERVE with the viewers as we have been waiting for someone to do something about the boring pagonging for quite some time, but I can understand that it's sometimes a better move to just assimilate with the majority rather than launching guerilla warfare against them. Doesn't make her turning her back on Dana any more acceptable, though.
JFP, James, and Eliza all move up one spot to round out our top four for the round. Each of these players is very likeable in their own way and all provide consistent insight into their games, which is basically a guaranteed recipe for success with PWs. Good job, y'all.
