Tonight's challenge will test your mind, and your ability to respond quickly...which surely will prove quite amusing.
To secure a one-in-four shot of winning Survivor Chronicles 16, then, quite simply, you must answer the trivia questions as fast as possible, and ultimately beat the clock.
At the start of the challenge, each player will have two minutes, or 120 seconds, on their Death Clock. The scoreboard, thus, will resemble something like this:
Aaron: 120 [**] Alicia: 120 [**] John: 120 [**] Steve: 120 [**] Ty: 120 [**]
At the beginning of each round, the host will roll a 5-sided die, which will determine the trivia category for that round. The five categories are
Survivor,
TV/Film,
History/Literature,
Geography, and
Sports. After the category is determined, the host will begin the challenge by asking a question to the player who, as determined by random draw, is selected to start.
Once the question is asked, that player's Death Clock will start to count down from 120 seconds. When (or if) the player answers the question correctly, their Death Clock will stop counting down. The host will then move on to the next player, and repeat the above process, asking a question from the same category. This will go on until all five players have completed their turn, thereby ending the round.
If you do not know the answer to a question you've been asked, you may use a
Skip. Skips on the scoreboard are denoted with an asterisk (*). Each player gets
two Skips for the course of the challenge.
If a player chooses to use a Skip, the question is immediately out of play, and their time stops counting down. However, using a Skip will incur an automatic 30-second time reduction. Thus, you should only use your Skips if you're absolutely certain you cannot answer the question.
A few things to note:
-Spelling does not count, so long as it is reasonably clear to the host that you know the answer. If the answer is "Britain", and you answer "Britin", that's fine. If you answer "Britant", you may have problems, one of which will be not having your answer counted.
-The host will only inform players when they have answered correctly; if you do not receive a response, it means you have answered incorrectly and that your time is continuing to count down.
The last player with time remaining on their clock will win the challenge. In the event that the final two or more players both end the final round with zero time left on their clock, there will be a "Sudden Death" tiebreaker (clever, no?), with all tied contestants having their clocks re-set to 30 seconds and continuing under the same rules until there is a winner.
Good luck.
