She's in the middle of everything, but doesn't have anything really SOLID yet it seems. That said, she coordinated most of the challenge for them and her interactions are VERY over the top. I feel like it would be hard to MOR her and would lean OTT barring any kind of brilliant confessional that shows that being over the top is some kind of strategy of hers.

like i said before, i feel like SPV is most useful when establishing someone as OTT and i think kate is an example of that

Thomas is starting to give me MORP realness. I think with others, the arch might not call for it, but how nervous he comes across about making alliances is genuine and adorable that I'm feeling a slight P tone. I wouldn't be feeling it at all if he was a veteran, but alas, he's not. I'll update my full list tomorrow as it gets closer to voting deadline.

I can definitely get behind all of those things.

The Tyler N tone is the thing I'd most like to keep out of any of that, but it MIGHT just be my perspective of him, since I feel like there's a hint of bitchiness to almost everything he says. I'd get not justifying that as a straight up N tone though, especially this early.

Yeah I see it too! It can go either way really.

Okay here's my update.
I agree with a lot of what you said Steve, and I deferred to you on Thomas/Tyler/others but here are a few things I would disagree with:
-Brandon: I get where you're coming from with the CPN5 thing, but as of now I am 100% seeing him as OTT (his antics make it kind of hard for me not to, but I digress). His confessionals are mostly about how he wants to be the head honcho and make everyone in his tribe scared of him (#EvilWonka) and I am here for it. But it's still a little one-note to me as of now, but I think he's close to CPN but not quite there yet.
-David: He's OTTP for sure, in my opinion. He's insane but his confessionals are full of these strange motivational reminders for himself e.g. "Reminders:
take things in stride.. just do your part... socialize... be active... and work hard at immunities..." and it just gives off this strongly positive vibe to me (a little bit too strong, probably)
-Donovan: I'm not sure if he's CP yet. His confessionals are wholly strategic so I'm not really sure if I see any complexity yet but I know for a fact that it'll come eventually.
-Jacob: ^pretty much the same line of reasoning. His confessionals are mostly about other people (which is pretty much usually the case during the first round anyway so I'm not faulting him there). If I'm off-base here let me know, because I don't really want to give away CPs too easily but I also realize that I have a TON of MORs and that might be a problem. I think it'll be a lot easier to see people's personalities come through in the next few rounds when they don't have to spend most of their time worrying about the photohunt
-Kate: I'm leaving her as toneless for now. She is very clearly OTT but I'm having trouble giving her a tone when she has provided very little in the way of her own confessionals
-Stacey: This one is probably the hardest to explain but ultimately I think Stacey emerges as the most complex person on the clusterfuck Carnegie tribe. It definitely is easy to fit her into the OTT box and she does it so well but her confessional this round was not only my favorite but also the most introspective out of all of the ones posted (something which was missing in Donovan and Jacob's confessionals which is why I didn't CP them)

And as for your contenders, I am 100% on the same page as you. I just reordered them a bit

I get where you're coming from on all of them. In the beginning of games, especially, I think a little bit of it is where you expect them to go. Obviously, it's more so what you're seeing at the time, but there will always be a little bit of fan-fiction that comes into play.

Brandon - I don't disagree at all. I think he's trying to come off as a complex villain, but it's not fully realized. Needs a little more finesse. Actually debated OTTN'ing him as well.

David - The fact that he's pretty far on the outs despite all of the work he's put in, along with the stuff you said, makes that completely fine with me.

Don - Originally had him as MORP, so I can agree with this easily. I think I was kind of blinded by his pandering (OOPS) when I had the tone on there.

Jacob - So, here's my deal with Jacob, and maybe it's a little bordering on fan-fiction -- I still get CP vibes from him. Perhaps it's yet to come, but I still see it. His interactions in his tribe chat, the way he carries himself, etc are very charismatic yet easy-going. It's appealing and I feel like it'd be highlighted in a show setting. I don't care if Kate got her way with this vote at all, because Jacob is 100% in my mind the core piece of Vanderbilt. His covering up his screw-up with the public confessional was compelling, the fact that every single person on the tribe seems to want to be involved with him (minus Maxis, but Maxis played little part in anything that happened this round), his struggle with going through with the vote, etc. Perhaps it doesn't scream complexity, but I've seen people CP'ed for less. If anything, I think maybe his visibility should be higher than a 3, considering Mike is at a 5 and Donovan is at a 4, and I really don't see too much that separates them in terms of visibility. Still, I get your side of it.

Kate - Can understand the rationale of her not getting a tone. I know lots of people don't like giving out mixed tones, and I'd say that's the closest to what she is if there were to be a tone.

Stacey - This is one I can COMPLETELY understand. Stacey is actually very insightful in her own odd way in confessionals. I, myself, struggle with CP'ing her because her and I have this running joke about how complex she is even when she's just being ridiculous. I'm glad you see it, though. I also get to hear a lot of her thoughts when she's not writing confessionals and they're absolutely ridiculous. From your point of view where you're seeing her confessionals only, I would totally CP her as well, and I think that's the most fair rating for her in hindsight, considering I get a lot of random thoughts from her in day to day conversations that shouldn't hold weight here.

I think it's totally fine as is, but just because I've already typed a giant fucking rant, here's my justification on the other suggestions:

Patrick - I thought the N tone was fitting because most of his interaction came with Brandon, where they apparently spent 2 or so hours talking shit about the rest of the tribe. Upon arrival, he disliked one of David's posts without speaking a word to him (though it's very possible it was an accident) and then did practically nothing else. I like Patrick, but he is similar to a Brandon type, although more savvy and able to cover his bases better. I think you'd be able to see it if he wrote confessionals instead of relaying them through Boyy, but again, I understand why you left the tone off.

RJ - I don't see him as a completely negative character, and I think a lot of that is put on for a show. His shtick about just being charismatic and not caring if it gets him in trouble is already starting to wear a little thin, as you can tell he cares about his position on his tribe. I think the main person that he's rubbing the wrong way is Brandon, which I think would kind of bode well for him considering Brandon loves coming off as a villain and I think a lot of the reason he has issues with him is because RJ steals the spotlight from him a bit.

I doubt you take this as me undermining the work you're putting in, but to clarify, I just think EDGIC talk is interesting and I like hearing others perspectives on it. This post has confirmed that my life is INV.

I'm about to go to bed but I agree with you on both Patrick and RJ, I'll update those tomorrow
