Hey guys! So I went ahead and googled some images of the Serengeti to start looking for a background image to serve as the foundation of our tribe camp image. I figured this was the easiest way to get us started and set the ~mood~ for our picture. I have absolutely no Photoshop skills (like most of us it seems lol), so I went ahead and picked some large-ish images so whoever will be doing the image stuff can adjust them to whatever size works best for them. Some options:

I don't know if these are good, but just throwing some options out there :)

It looks like I'll be mostly handling the actual image editing part of this bad boy. I know for sure I'm gonna take the thorn bushes and make an enclosure like they did in Survivor: Africa. That should take care of any wildlife problems and such.

Austin and I doing some research

"Are wild animals dangerous?
Wild animals can be dangerous and you should not wander off on your own, especially at night, while on safari. However most animals are rather frightened by humans and will flee instead of attacking unless cornered or provoked. Keep a sensible distance and treat them with respect."

The Maasai live in Kraals arranged in a circular fashion. The fence around the kraal is made of acacia thorns, which prevent lions from attacking the cattle

"Due to the origin of Maasai religion, a great deal of emphasis is placed on the symbolism of cattle."

Ok so as Jonny said, the thorn bushes as enclosure is a great idea. We can even be academic about it and quote this: "The Maasai live in Kraals arranged in a circular fashion. The fence around the kraal is made of acacia thorns, which prevent lions from attacking the cattle " (http://www.maasai-association.org/maasai.html)

So we have 13 thorn bushes. Which is beautiful. It was kind of hard to find a good image of a singular thorn bush.

Here are some I found that could be useful or pretty idk

Oh also if we don't find another use for the rope, the rope could be used to keep all the thorn bushes together.

Ok, so. Monica and I did our research and had a little chat and decided to go with a bit of a cultural theme for our camp. We wanted it to show pride for the country we are using for this season.

SO, we are starting with creating our very own guardian spirit. These are given to every person at birth and watch over them for their entire life, so it's fitting we'll have one for our camp. Since we have an animal skull, our guardian spirit will use a cow head in order to represent the most sacred animal of the Maasai culture. Basically we are going to hang it in the entrance way of our tribe using rope, our bull skull, the shield, and the two spears. It will also represent the Maasai flag, which is also pictured below.

Again, I don't know what you want in terms of size of images, so if you need others I can try and find them ASAP. The rope especially I don't even know where you want to start with doing that lol :)

For the flag ... I was thinking maybe it could be just mainly decoration. Its usefulness is that it is identifying.

Idk how culturally appropriating this is but here is the Massai flag, the flag of the people of the Serengeti:

And we can hoist it up with our bamboo pole:

Oh our final idea was to make fire ... use the small mirror and the planks of wood. Use the tarp to keep it going. And then use the lantern to maintain it through the night.

The practicalness is to 1. keep us warm 2. water but also 3. save us from predators.

"However most animals are rather frightened by humans and will flee instead of attacking unless cornered or provoked" -- so like animals will know of our presence and back the fuck away from us.

So this leaves us with:

- Planks of wood (7 minus however many for the fire?)
- Lantern
- Luxury Item (Your tribe can choose an item. It must be something plausible as far as luxury items go)
- Blankets (2)
- Planks of wood (3)
- Oar

And obviously any ideas to improve on ours will be great :) We need those teamwork points so rip our ideas apart by all means ;)

Could we use the planks of wood and the tarp to like... make a roof or something? And hang the lantern from the roof? Does that make sense? It might not be a bad idea to keep us out of the sun, etc.

Well, I just finished what's probably going to be the final image. It may not be the best thing in the world, but I think for our purposes it'll be okay.

If you guyss want me to clarify anything about it, let me know. And yes, I did sharpen the oar into a makeshift spear cause what else am I to do with it, haha.
