I'm sure many of you have been wondering how Hidden Immunity Idols will work this season. Look no further!

Ceremonial masks are an essential feature of the traditional culture of the Maasai. These masks have both spiritual and religious meaning and are used in a wide variety of ways, from celebrations to religious events.

One of the most common subjects that these African masks are molded after is the wildlife of The Serengeti. The idea is for the masks to represent the spirit of the animals that they resemble. In many cases, the masks also represent a specific virtue from that animal, such as a lion representing strength. It is these masks that will grant you power in this game.



Scattered around the land that we're currently occupying are the masks of fallen warriors. Every round, at a predetermined time that will constantly change, more masks will be hidden in various spots around this board.

Each one of you will start with one unique mask. You'll be given them in your confessionals shortly. To uncover your tribe's Hidden Immunity Idol, you must hold five masks that bare your tribe's color. Whenever you find a mask somewhere on the board, take a screenshot and post it in the mask thread in your confessional. The FIRST player on your tribe to uncover a mask's location will claim that mask. If you find a mask but get no confirmation from us that you've claimed it, that means someone beat you to it. When someone finds a mask, we'll do our best to take that mask off the board immediately.

Each mask will have a tribe's color on it. If you find a mask that doesn't belong to your tribe, you cannot claim it. However, you can use its location as a bargaining chip with someone on that other tribe if you wish.

(Furthermore, no masks can be claimed during the final hour before TC results are due, this is a grace preiod. This is to prevent us from having to confirm a mask's authenticity to you as well as posting HII information in your confessional at the last few minutes of Tribal Council deadlines)

To complicate things, when a player is voted out, they must leave all masks that they have up to that point (including the mask that they start with) to a player on the tribe that they were voted out of. Whoever they leave the masks to will not be public information. If they'd like, they can split their masks between multiple people. The boot must let us know before the start of the next Immunity Challenge, otherwise it will be randomized.

Masks that you've claimed cannot be given to another tribe member (unless you are voted out). If you want someone else to receive the mask instead of you, you must give them the location of the mask so they can claim it themselves.

The moment someone finds five masks that belong to their tribe, they will receive a Hidden Immunity Idol in private. There is only one Idol per tribe available. More and more masks will be released each round, so it may not be long before someone discovers the Idol.

While some of you are relaxing after your win, and while others are facing Tribal Council, you can all have fun hunting for new masks.

Round three masks are now out!

Several of you have asked me how masks will work now that you're swapped. They'll basically work...the exact same way!

You can still only claim masks that match your original tribe, not your new one. Your old masks are all still completely valid. None of that has changed whatsoever. When you look for masks now, be sure to look for your original tribe, not your current one.

If you're voted out, you must still leave your masks to an original tribe member. This means you can potentially leave masks to someone who was swapped to a different tribe.

To make things more interesting, we're introducing a new element:



The universal mask. This mask may be claimed by a member of ANY tribe. If you're voted out while holding it, you may leave it to anyone in the game. (The above mask in the example cannot be claimed)

Round four masks have now been hidden! One universal mask is also out there somewhere. Happy hunting!

If any Idols aren't claimed after this round, they will be lost forever. Idols are not rehidden after being played.
