Hindsight is 20/20 but the arguments for keeping Joe is that he gains some equity to win the challenge, like was discussed, even if its small it's something. But more importantly if he was close to Liz, he just needs to get another person or two to fight for him over Jenna. I don't know Jenna's relationships, but if he idoled out Ken/Neal he could have went to Joe and be like dude, hope you don't take it personally blah blah blah it's all game etc. I think he could have tugged on his heart strings if he told him how bad he wanted to be here and how he would owe him the world.
