Background:
Veleriya was born on Venera Outpost, orbiting Venus. Her mother died during childbirth and so she was raised alone by her father, a politician. She is of Russian ancestry and spent her childhood fascinated by the history of her ancestors and their endeavors into space during the 1900s. Inspired by cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, she joined up with the Venera military and became a highly ranked officer.

Spending her other free time training, she's also an aspiring athlete. After the death of her father, she left her home and did active service in the Jupiter sector, seeing combat on Io. After enduring the horrors of war, she decided to lead a more settled life and moved to Europa base. During this time she learned about the disappearance of the crew on board the Dalia.

Dreaming of her heritage and Yuri Gagarin's accomplishments, she finally decided to follow in his footsteps, requesting duty aboard the rescue crew. Her ancestors were space pioneers, so she could be too.
