i manged to use the comms device before last phase ended. nobody picked up, which based on the item description means nobody else has one. these bots, there for what storage of items or messages, so that if someone comes by later they can pick items up or read messages? and im guessing attack is some kind of trap?

i used the comms again, nobody picked up. if someone picks a comms device before the phase ends then i will still find out.

from the wording i think it would let me talk to another crew member who finds one.

so does anyone have any thoughts on potential uses of the Portal Gun? or anything really? (echo)

well the sooner we use it the first time the closer we will be to the elevator, the inactive shuttles and the bridge. the question is can we afford to use a fusion cell.

we have enough fuel cells to keep us all alive until i think phase 14. we only have 3 extra fusion cells beyond that point. so we would need to find 5 more to gain everyone else another 3 phases of power. if we use a fusion cell now then we need 6 more.

no we dont. the idea is using it now means that when we want to get back to here of close to here we can fast travel by using the portal gun a second time. its possible that we will be in a race with another group to get to different locations. or we could even get cut off from this area at some point.

the way i look at it is we have 3 extra fusion cells. if we keep them all and dont get the power working we still need to find 5 more, otherwise there will be a fight over who gets the extra fusion cells.

there are 8 of us and we have 19 total fusion cells. my worry is what happens if we dont find at least 5 more before we get the power back on?

yes, but the way it works is you use it and then use it again. then you can jump between the 2 rooms you used it in. the pro to using it now is were close to a lot of important things and we know how to get to them from here. basically if we find the bomb or have some other reason to return to an area we have already visited having a portal here could drastically reduce travel time.
