Name: Michael Lindberg
Birth Colony: Ganymede

Background:
Since he was young, Michael Lindberg was raised with a very strict set of rules and guidelines. His father didn't allow any kind of leeway, the rules were the rules and had to be obeyed. Michael became fascinated with laws in general and how they were formed and passed in the central Ganymede council. He spent a great deal of time studying at the archives while other kids were goofing around and wasting their lives.

Eventually he worked hard and finally got accepted into the military academy on Ceres. There he took his officer exam and passed with flying colours. He had all the potential to one day be a Captain, but he was turned down at every opportunity by people far less qualified than himself and he never fully understood it. Seemed like the politics were always less about the rules and more about personal feeling.

Eventually he was moved out to Europa base, which was even more disappointing for him. The chances of becoming a captain there were near impossible, as the colony was primarily research based. Regardless, he took his role of overseeing the shipyard seriously and made sure that all rules were followed at all times. His operation was slick and efficient, largely because there were no real issues. This changed when the crew of Dalia mysteriously disappeared. There was a great deal of unrest, but Captain Watts intervened and calmed the civilians down by allowing them on his crew.

This was a baffling concept to Michael as he couldn't imagine Mission Control giving the go ahead for something like this. On discovering that they actually didn't, he was given permission to put together a secondary crew to intercept Watts' ship which had already left the base. This was good on two levels: firstly it allowed him to captain a vessel like he had always dreamed. Secondly, it meant he could go up against Watts who he disliked in general. It upset him that a layabout was captain while somebody as dedicated as himself to the job never made that rank.
