Background:
Portia was raised on the Lunar Base, by a single father in a lower-middle class area. With her father as a mechanic Portia learned the value of hard work from a young age both from him and the working people in the neighbourhood. She finished school and took on her father's trade, learning to assert herself.

When her younger brother left to join the military, Portia yearned for a similar type of adventure. She left the moon and traveled to different colonies with a hopes of learning more about the solar system and her place in it. She settled for a time on Europa, as the local fisher-folk were humble and reminded her a fair bit of home.

It was during this time that the crew aboard the Dalia disappeared. Feeling she could be an asset to the mission, she enlisted her services. If it meant helping families like the one she left behind, she was determined to do whatever it took.
