Background:
Born in poverty on Mars, Elias spent much of his childhood reading. His favourite stories were the ones about the ancient Greeks and their Olympian gods. He would often dream he was amongst them, and spent extensive time at the archives whenever possible. Having read up fully on the Inferno Wars and Willis' Labyrinth, Elias decided that Olympian gods did walk the Earth and it would only stand to reason that he was one too.

He left home as soon as he was able, studying and applying his knowledge of mechanics and engineering in the shipyards on Ceres. Though he resented manual work, it paid well and he would eventually use the money to set up on Callisto where he became an author and TV personality. People became enamoured with his persona, in which he literally declared himself to be a god and promoted the values from ancient Olympia. It was particularly well received by the artsy elite in Callistan culture. Despite his fame and popularity, Elias is generally a loathsome, lazy and arrogant man.

Upon learning of the Dalia and its disappearing crew, Elias immediately assumed it was caused by something supernatural. Could this be the return of his Olympian brothers he had been hoping for? After drumming up interest for the topic, his agent decided it would be good for his flagging popularity to go out on the mission himself in order to save face. This is a prospect that Elias does not enjoy, as deep space is a dangerous place he would rather not put himself in.
