Background:
Edom was born and raised on Earth, a rarity in the modern age. His childhood and upbringing were like that of many Earthlings, being forced to survive day to day in an extremely hostile and difficult environment. Although raised in the caverns beneath Earth, a general lack of resources made life hard and Edom soon found himself trawling the surface with bandit gangs to scrape a living.

When his mother became sick, he was forced to move his operations off-planet as Earth's medical supplies were scarce and the various religious groups on Earth provided nothing except useless "spirit" medicine. Joining up with a local gang of "space traders", he began to run contraband and smuggled substances between worlds.

During a pick-up from Io, he was caught by the Ganymede military and imprisoned. After heavy interrogation and foul treatment from the prison guards, he quickly came to loathe authority (an attitude he had always upheld). His stint in prison didn't perturb him and he began to get caught up in other illegal operations such as raiding scrapyards and derelict ships for materials, also known as scrapping.

He felt himself come upon the mother of Pearls when he learned of the Dalia's crew disappearing. A ship like that, new and untouched was a scrapper's dream. Even better, this guy Watts was letting just about anybody on his crew so there would be no need for any sort of screening or processing. Perfect!
