The clawing and the howling carried on until the last second. Ezra dashed East and just heard the shadow move swiftly across the floor again, banging hard into the now Western door. He stood surveying the room beyond. It was three times the size of a standard room along the length. Three doorways led out on the Northern side where he was stood, one East, one North and one West.
To the farthest South were two other doors. The one to the East was locked but the one to the West could be opened. The doors were situated across a long unstable patch of floor, suspended in the air by a series of chains. Overhead hung a large scale which seemed to be perfectly balanced. The chains clanked from side to side as Ezra crossed the floor.
The howling echoed out from the West and he sighed. This was going to be another long wait.
It is now Phase 26. Phase 26 will end in roughly 24 hours from now.
