I believe I had heard this story once. Earlier, the father's ears rang false to a Jester's claim right before expecting to face the statues. The jester exclaimed "I did it for shits and giggles". Hesitant, the group lost the jester (later to be found by great teamwork by the father's friends).

The friends do not want to make the same mistake. It must be a difficult choice.
