The room they were stood in was a corridor that extended Northwards, but overhead in the far distance was a high wooden bridge. It rocked gently, not looking particularly stable. There was a passage either side of it. They looked onwards and saw there was only one way out of this room if they couldn't turn back. A single sealed doorway to the North. |
|
"No point in waiting around. Later!" Said Parker with a grin.
He dashed towards the exit at the North and paused. There was a control panel next to the door. He shrugged and mashed the keypad. The door opened up. He charged into the next room and the rest of the group slowly milled through. Thomas was looking shell-shocked from the crash but some of the others pushed him over to the door.
Lincoln paused momentarily to look at the bridge overhead but shook his head and finally joined the others. Tyrese scrambled in the truck wreckage with a couple of others but there was nothing salvageable.
"Let's move on already." Said Dennis frustratedly. The last of them finally exited through the North entrance. It was truly beginning now.
The room beyond was very ordinary. Mikhail braced himself. Emperor Fong sniffed the walls curiously. Brie looked up at the concerned General questioningly.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
General Chuikov sighed. "It's too clean. Too empty. We're here in another corridor and they saw us coming but there's nothing. It would have almost been expected for an ambush but just emptiness everywhere. None of it feels right."
There were some murmurs of agreement. Things had gotten heated earlier. When there was nothing to do but tear at each other's throats in a confined space, it was a dangerous situation indeed.
Kane raised his finger to shush the group. The murmuring continued.
"That means shut up assholes!" He snarled.
"Why don't you-" Tyrese began but he stopped suddenly. There was a faint sound.
More purple sparks descended from the ceiling. They were getting more and more frequent. This whole room was alive in their electrical pulse.
"What is that stuff?" Said Hobert, attempting to reach out and catch one.
"DON'T!" Shouted Katy, pulling him back.
The sparks were spiraling towards the wall. When they collided there was a crashing sound. It was followed by a barely audible hum which seemed to be growing in frequency. Everybody braced themselves. This didn't look good. The sparks were whirling into life at an excessive rate now.
At their centre, a cascade of colours filled the room. Shades of violet and dark blue. Clouds of some kind of noxious purple energy leapt up from the surface. Nobody wanted to breathe as the light show picked up tempo. The room became awash with the sound of crackling energy as finally a great whooshing noise filled the air.
In the middle of the wall was a dark black hole. It swirled around. Cold air blew from it and the sparks and purple energy danced over the surface. It seemed to suck in the light from the room somehow but there was a faint image in it. An image of something that looked almost like...
A man.
And right at that moment, he was flung forth. He hurtled across the room, crashing hard into the far wall. The group scattered, taking care to avoid either him or the black hole in the wall. The sparks leapt away as slowly the mysterious energy portal vanished into dust.
Rubbing his head and cursing to himself quietly, the man looked up. He was dressed in a full suit of armour, and he had flowing blonde hair that cascaded down his shoulders. He seemed to reach for a scabbard but it was empty. Frantically darting his eyes around, he spied an enormous silver sword on the ground. It commanded a certain presence.
He dived stealthily and grabbed the hilt, swinging it up in the air in a furious arc. The sword seemed to slice through the sky, leaving a faint trail everywhere it went. He held it aloft and looked from person to person with a frantic and disturbed expression. All eyes were on him.
"You can put down the sword. What's your name? And where did you come from?" Said Mikhail diplomatically.
The armoured man snarled.
"My name is Theseus. I am the greatest hero the world has ever known. And I don't answer to the likes of you." He said bitterly. |
|
What lay beyond was impressive. Tyrese's jaw dropped open taking it all in. The room was huge. So far they'd been subject to tiny claustrophobic caverns but this was enormous. The room was three times as wide and three times as long as either room they'd just come from. It was grand and foreboding at the same time. Decorative lamps fell from the roof. Occasional purple sparks flitted down and across the surface.
And even higher, almost out of sight in the distance above ground was a balcony. The balcony started on the West side of the room and curved around in a twisted arc. It finally came to stop at the Northern side. There were two doorways only ever so barely visible from the ground. One of them led onto the Western side of the Balcony, about in the centre of the Western wall. The other was set in the North, at roughly the centre of that wall and where the Balcony ended.
Overhead the rock formations had weathered and the weathering trickled down the ground where there were strange ruts visible. There was some kind of damp effect there. Maybe this room had once contained flowing water. The wizard probably wasn't fond of it. Then again, he didn't seem like the sort to be fond of decorative lighting. |

1144* is a weight trap room where the floor is unbalanced, and it's a puzzle where you have to balance every single person and item or one person dies. I don't really know the details on who dies, I assume it's first person in, or if there's any sort of time limit beyond the regular phase. This is the room Carl disappeared out of, where he stole Kristoff's staff and came into our labyrinth, this is when I got the LYNCH ON SIGHT message. |
|
There is a package for us in the future labyrinth in room 5230* which I guess was deployed from one of those rooms. I don't know what the package is, it could be dangerous, it could be a prize. But it was sent from one of those rooms. |

743 BC ROOMS
|
We entered through a stone doorway. We found ourselves in a hall that had statues (minotaur and gods). There was a single exit to the north at the end of a long hallway. |
|
Another corridor, described as being similar to 4853. Theseus was transported away. Erebos was added to our group. |
|
Marek opened his eyes and saw a reflection. More mirrors? He blinked as the heavy bearded face looked back sadly and then began to ripple and change. This was no mirror...this was...water. His gaze climbed upwards and took in an enormous stone arm. It was rising out of the water and holding a trident aloft. The larger part of the statue must have been completely submerged by the water.
There was a groaning noise behind him. Marek turned around and looked...was it East? He'd lost all sense of direction. There was a door leading into a high stone wall. It was much higher than any he'd seen so far. This almost felt like...outdoors. He stretched his arms and legs to try and stimulate movement and glanced up...very up. There was a stone ceiling to this place but it was unthinkably high. It was airy too. The whole room gave the perception of space.
Standing tall and upright and smiling at the peaceful air he turned his gaze back across to the water. It stretched on into the very far distance for what seemed like an eternity. It was really hard to see far because green mists danced across the surface of the rippling lake. But it moved North and it expanded outwards indefinitely. The door to the East was set into an alcove about the size of a stadard room. This alcove had a Northern door as well. He turned around and saw that the wall on the South-side extended to the West. It joined the high Western wall which extended up to the ceiling.
And directly West of the small stretch of land he stood on was a dock. It was wooden and decaying and very ancient-looking. The dock moved out into the water. There was a medium-sized wooden boat with oars along the sides docked at the end of it. |
|
You don't remember what happened. Did you...did you all go through the Western exit like you planned? That seemed like the right thing to do.
Everything in here is dark. You're dead...aren't you? It was bound to happen sooner or later but it wasn't meant to feel like this. At least it didn't hurt....you don't think. You can't really remember. You recall Balagor going on about doing something useful and the business with the skeleton and....
Balagor defintely went towards the door. And then he opened it and said the room was completely empty. And...had you followed him? You really can't remember.
What had killed you? Shouldn't you at least know?
Suddenly a light came on. Was this the final passage? It was illuminating a small, confined corridor. Along the walls were a number of mirrors. At least...they looked like mirrors. You peered into one but you couldn't see your own face. You saw the face of one of your group.
What...what was this? |
|
The room was very different from the one they just stood in. It was simplistic. There were no balconies or higher levels and no overhanging lights. It looked untouched. Waterfalls cascaded down onto the open ground where two canals were flowing beneath their feet. Ezra dashed to the South of the room curiously. The entrance was completely covered by rocks here too. That was...strange.
The ways out of the room were completely different too. One stood against the Northern wall, set into the middle. The other was in the Western wall, also in the middle. The exit to the East didn't exist here. Things really had changed a lot. |
|
The group slowly crept in and felt themselves enter uncertain terrain. The floor in here was covered in sand. Stonehard Lee stepped in and frowned as he looked down at his sandy feet.
There was a chest in this room. Willis had us complete a silly task of digging sand out of it, and in the end there was nothing in it. Strange. |
|
A room with a giant bird cage in. Anyone who frees the person trapped becomes trapped themselves. The cage is situated above spikes, and an hour glass is counting down. The person trapped may or may not fall onto the spikes when the phase ends. |
|
Nothing happened next. Silence fell over the group completely. Boone ran his fingers along the sign to kill time. The message read:
"Herein lies the magic of the seers. Go to the water and speak of a place. That place shall be revealed to you."
He clambered up the steps and looked once more into the water, reflectively. Suddenly there was a noise. Everybody turned to look.
Eleanor was stood at the Eastern exit. She was limping and weary, but she was alive.
Objectives:
Step up to the basin and speak a four digit number. Each player may only do this once per phase. Post ##Speak: ???? to do this. |
|
The room beyond was dark and foreboding. He stepped out and the door slammed behind him.
All he could see was skulls. The whole room was filled with them, piled up in macabre displays all around. He shivered. This didn't feel good at all. He took a step forward and felt a sickening crunch beneath his foot. Looking down he noticed more skulls. The floor was made out of them. There was the occasional dried blood splatter on the surface.
In the middle of the room was a snapped wire. Ezra crouched down and touched it. His eyes followed it along to a cave against one of the walls. It was also made out of skulls. He shivered and stepped backwards. There was a soft squelching sound. Looking down with a sickened expression, Ezra looked into Tyron's eyes.
They were quite dead.
His eyes shot around the room and noticed more of Tyron's remains. His torso was shattered in the middle of the room along with a limb strewn here and there amidst much blood. He closed his eyes calmly but snapped them open when a clicking sound caught his attention.
He rushed towards the door as a shape emerged from the skull pile. At that moment the door opened and the rest of his group walked in. He took a deep breath and slowly turned back around. |
|
He walked into the room beyond and watched it close behind him with a thud. He shivered. There was something eerie about this room. It was twice the width of a normal room and had quite a number of exits. One in each compass direction in fact. The West half had a Northern exit and a Western exit, and the East half had a Southern and Eastern exit. He was standing by the Southern exit, glancing over to the West.
On the Western wall was a gigantic stone sculpture of a face. It had a ragged mane and looked on creepily with cold dead eyes and a curved palm. He shrugged and turned to the door. At least it wasn't doing anything dangerous.
The room filled with a tremendous rush at that moment. The face on the wall blasted out a tremendous gust that sent Parker flying off his feet. He yelled out in terror as he careened across the floor, into the spiky wall. The face looked on sternly and continued its windy barrage. Parker grasped around in the air, managing to grab hold of an iron railing that was embedded in the wall.
He hung there as the gale increased. The room darkened with the mighty bluster as the group in the doorway looked on in horror.
"Hang in there!" Said Brie, encouragingly.
Parker snarled. What good was that? His hair was blasting all over his face. Angela scowled as the wind was rippling through hers and sending it in all directions.
"I bet you're regretting that purple mop now." Said Frederick smugly.
"Thanks for the tip asshole!" Screamed Parker above the blasting wind. "How about some hel-"
He yelled out as his grip slipped on the iron railing. He felt himself be flung hard across the wall. There was a sickening squelch as his shoulder smacked into the spikes on the wall. Finally the gust died down into a gentle breeze. The group scuttled in, over to the stricken figure.
The spikes slipped into the wall with a thunk sound and another gruesome squelch.
Parker stumbled forward into the horrified crowd and toppled over. There was quite a trail of blood behind him.
"I...is he?" Said Brie, miserably.
"Do I look dead?" Said Parker, writhing around on the floor. He slowly crawled to his knees and cradled himself. He was feeling quite unwell. |
|
The room beyond was large and airy. It was about twice the length of a standard room in the Labyrinth. The exit she'd walked through was on the Northern side. Two staircases climbed very high in the centre and circled one another across high above. Neither actually led to anything over head, though they both went high up. Brie looked at them in horror. Then she jumped back with a scream as the hooded figure watched her in between. |
|
The room beyond was small by most standards around here, in that it was the "normal size". They'd been used to some quite airy rooms of late. His eyes took in the walls. The small square room was made out of stone and one of the walls was covered in some kind of intricate mechanism. Probably a trap knowing his luck. He made a bold dive out of the path of danger, just in case. But nothing happened. Picking himself up, he dusted off his shirt hoping nobody saw him. Angela was smirking in the doorway. Whatever.
The rest of the group milled in. An excited Boone rushed over to the mechanism on the wall. Enormous cogs of wood and stone sat in large iron spindles. This display of devices extended far up towards the top of the room, where the towering walls gave way to a small gap above the vast ceiling. He prodded one with an excited squeal as Rita glanced over.
Ezra studied them thoughtfully. There had to be a reason they existed.
"Well this is a pointless room. But it at least shall prove to be a restful room." Wilt said, grinning at Brie who blushed. He sat himself down on the cold stone floor with his back against one of the cogs.
There was a sudden grinding noise. The cog behind him jolted and made him leap to his feet in terror. The group looked on as both exits suddenly sealed in place, locking them firmly inside the room. |
|
Wilt strolled along the shore by the canal and marched in front of the door. He stretched his shoulders nervously and looked around. Brie was looking very worried. Wilt put on a brave smirk and pushed. He wasn't afraid of the dark.
He stepped into the unknown with his eyes shut. It was better this way. The door behind him slammed shut as he opened his eyes. He was in a long room that was twice the width of a standard room. The Northern door he'd just entered from was on the Eastern side of the room. It extended Westwards and there was another door leading out to the South.
He strolled across the room. It was very dark and filled with lit candles. Their small sphere of light was the only illumination the room had. |
|
Finally it moved Eastwards and came crashing onto land with a thud. The group groaned and picked themselves up. They were in a small recess at the end of the canal. The land here was the size of a regular room. To the South was a locked door but there was another Eastern exit.
Ezra turned around to look over at the water once more. There was an old, weathered dock here too but no statues. There was also a second boat. It was moving away from the dock, back across the canal all of its own accord |
|
"Two of you can play this. And one of you will win. There's a prize to be had if you succeed. It'll no doubt prove...invaluable. But the question is, who dares to take the challenge? It's relatively simple. You will race to the stop of the stairs, one on either side. But one of you will falter and fall. The other will succeed and will be rewarded. It's an awfully long fall...so I don't rate your chances of survival too high."
He took in their faces with a grin.
"I expect you to take the cowardly route. But remember this, death is certain. Why not hold on to the hope of victory. After all, it might be all that remains." |
|
Origo stepped into a dank room with a pale white floor. It felt stringy to the touch. Sticky also. That was...unpleasant. He walked across the room, finding himself entangled on the strange substance as he moved further in. This room was a standard size but it was made to look even smaller because of the substance over all the walls.
"Spiders." He said to nobody in particular.
At the mention of the word, there was a scratching noise. Origo looked up as a stone tube overhead slid open. His face didn't betray signs of fear because his face showed nothing. But the way he ran around yelling certainly did. The group pushed the door open and watched as a number of small spiders scuttled up Origo's body as he shook them off wildly. More seemed to emerge whenever he seemed to be winning.
Origo was rolling on the floor now, writhing around as some of the spiders bit into his mask. That was all they needed. A flood of them crawled under. There were signs of movement beneath the fabric as everybody looked on in disgust.
Finally the room filled with a strange purple gas and the spiders all fled. A black sea of them poured out, scuttling back along the walls and into the pipes above. The stone sealed once more and Origo lay on the floor, his masked face looking up eternally. |
