No wonder they're already having their doubts, if this is how terrible we are at social contact, haha.

Heh... I guess we're not exactly shining examples of the sort of heroes who run off and saved the world... But hopefully we'll manage it.

I hope you have military experience, though, because if it's just the four of us doing this we may be screwed.

"Is the meeting over?"

The assembled group turned to look at the doorway. A young woman was stood there. She was standing with her arms firmly on her hips and pouting at the group. She was Asian with black hair tied behind her back.

"Oh, is this the whole group?"

Mikhail didn't say a word. The others smiled as Gabriel walked forth.

"For now. But these things will likely change...soon. What's your name."

The young woman pouted and glanced at the rubble on the floor. How unkempt. She sighed and walked towards the table. There were some dank looking chairs.

"I choose to stand." She said firmly.

"Full name is Rita Kanakiri." She said flatly.

A knowing look entered Gabriel's eyes.

"Of the noble Kanakiri family from the Bito isles? Well...what used to be before this." He said.

Rita sighed and paced the floor.

"I want to make it very clear that there shall be no talk of those...fools. I am here independently. I wish to join your adventure and I don't wish to explain myself any further. Call my by my first name. It stings less. And please collect some proper chairs next time we assemble. This is a little bit...much...if you know what I mean."

She turned to look at the other two.

"Where are all the soldiers?" She asked curiously. Mikhail sighed.

Alas, I'm just another girl...my father was a veteran, though. Alpha, Bravo, Charlie...the whole shebang. He um...he always wanted my brothers to go into the army, but he was awfully protective of me and he knew how bad it was out there and...sorry. Ranting again.

It's okay. Did... uhh... did he die in the war?

I lost my folks when we fled to the caves, so I've been on my own for a while. It's tough... but that's what inspired me to join up. I'm hoping that I can get them justice.

They're rather well known actually. Or were...of course. A decade under the Earth can pollute the knowledge of Geography a tad.

No, he um...he had cancer for a while. And on the day of my graduation, when everything...went down, he um...I tried to help him but I couldn't, he...I watched him die. And I never knew my mom, she died giving birth to me.

I'm sorry for yours as well, but...but I think it's made me stronger...at least that's what the movies always said. A loss makes you stronger, even when you feel so weak.

Yeah, I think me being stronger than I was when I was 11 was going to happen anyway. I would have been happy without the soul numbing experience.

So, at least there's 5 now! We can definitely take on anything now!

Rita, you wouldn't happen to be a hardened solider, would you?
