Survivor: Cagayan discussion

After tonight's episode... I WANNA TALK ABOUT IT.

Seriously, such scramble. Much blindside. Wow.

I personally was not blindsided in the slightest. I totally knew who was leaving going into Tribal. The edit and the idols made that pretty darn obvious. Like... we didn't see much of any Jefra in this episode. She's just kinda there, and that's why Sarah idiotically refused to target her.

I honestly can't remember the last time I was so infuriated by someone playing Survivor in the context a single episode as I was with Sarah here. She usurped the "throne" and was calling the shots, acting like she was hot shit, smarter than the Brains, and that she knew everything about the game when she actually knew nothing. Her arrogance in confessionals was obnoxious, and her naivete to believe everything she heard was absurd. How the hell is she a cop, anyway? She said she is the police interrogator earlier, I believe. Does she trust every word out of a criminal's mouth? Amazing if she does. She also doesn't even understand idols - they were targeting Jefra and Trish first for a reason, because they wouldn't have found idols, nor would anyone play one on them. It's called the SAFE VOTE - has this naive, arrogant moron ever seen this show before? Plus, Sarah's voice alone irritates me, but in this episode her gameplay and personality did too. "I can guarantee that Tony doesn't have an idol, I can guarantee that LJ doesn't either" and when it came to Tribal Council, she was put in her place. First by Tony pulling out his idol (after Spencer smartly called a potential bluff), then by LJ pulling out another idol, and then by Kass's vote being shown to be for Sarah. Kass was as infuriated by Sarah as I was. And she made a potentially suicidal move in that fury.

Did Chaos Kass make the right move? That's unknown at this point. She has alienated half of the people still in the game... and gone with a group where she's very clearly sixth at this point. Unless she can get someone from the other side to flip and join her, LJ, and Jefra as a foursome, she's definitely not winning. Kass strikes me as an enigma - she's a calculated player in her approach, but she plays way too emotionally and recklessly, thinking only short-term and not long-term. Note how she voted out Garrett over J'Tia when he was spewing his idiotic babble at that Tribal. She put herself in a bad spot in doing so, due to the Brains' high chance of Ulonging after that. Had LJ and Jeremiah not choked on that maze puzzle, they would have been down to two a la Matsing. Kass would have been one of them, but she would have been very low on options. Like she is now - she's forcing herself to be sixth with a group that only wanted to use her. Kass is basically a mix of Sandra ("as long as it ain't me"), Cochran in South Pacific (flipping to Upolu immediately instead of waiting a round) and Hantz ("rule in chaos") and I honestly agree with Spencer - she ain't winning. If she gets to the end, at least half of the jury is going to be bitter towards her for an emotional move that she made far too preemptively. This move should have been made at the final nine. Vote out Jefra, then LJ, THEN take Tony, Woo, Trish, and whomever you feel is on the bottom with you (Morgan?) and take out Sarah.

I think Tony made the right call to throw his idol out in the open at Tribal. That throws everyone off and forces them to scramble if they are voting for him (they did), thus eliminating him from being voted out, OR if there isn't a scramble reaction, he knows he's not the target, so he can hand it to LJ, Trish, or Jefra, having a 33% chance of getting it right (VERY GOOD ODDS). It was a smart move, and the panic and chaos caused Sarah to be proven wrong, which made Kass relish in the moment too.

As for a few others, Tasha was foolish to take Sarah's side and not tell Kass that she was acting so Sarah wouldn't flip (if she even was acting). LJ playing his idol was a good move in that it made it clear to Tony that they could trust each other, although it was a gutsy calculation that Spencer and Tasha were bluffing about "the other one." Morgan needs to do more than be there looking hot, and it seems like next round she calls Kass out and it's going to be awesome. I love good gameplay drama. Spencer, as I said, made the right move in calling Tony out about his idol - if it's a bluff and he can't produce it, then shame on him. Trish made the smartest move she has yet in seeing Kass wasn't really tight with the others and letting her decide who the Solana Five voted for. Who wouldn't seriously consider that offer?

Onto the "Tyler Perry Idol" (really, Probst, did you forget the idol in Exile Island and Cook Islands?). I like it in a way. Splitting the vote is so common now that idols really don't have the same power they used to. I still think this is too powerful, though, like it was when Yul won the entire game just because he got it so fast and people were too afraid of it to vote him out. I'm intrigued to know who finds it, and I hope it's one of the NuAparri members that isn't Kass and they utilize it to blindside somebody and potentially cause more chaos.

This season is yet another amazing one. Is there something magical about the Philippines? Four seasons in a row there, and all of them have wowed me at one time or another, although Caramoan was very hit-or-miss. This season proves why I love this show - predicting, analyzing, judging whether someone made a good move or not, and having all kinds of fun while doing it.

What did you all think of this episode? Did Kass make the right decision? How awful was Sarah?

I think LJ wins. Outside chance of Tony or Woo.

And Kass made a really, really bad move.

Or rather, made a big move at the wrong time. Had this been the final nine, she could have gotten away with it. Now...? Yeah, right. She's fucked herself over. Like I said: She's sixth with NuSolana. Unless she has a way to escape that fate, which is unlikely, then yes, a really bad move.

As for winners... there have been several people getting a winner edit. Morgan could even be winning with a Natalie White edit (as she hasn't been seen complaining or anything... yet, but that may change next week). This season, I have no idea. The possibilities are endless right now. Jefra's odds are probably the worst based on the edit, but Kass would be a close second-worst odds-wise (Jeremiah third-worst).

I think next week's episode is going to make the winner more clear. That idol is kind of a big deal at this point in the game.

Lol that tribal, I died xD

I think Kass said, way in the beginning, that she was going to play a ruthless game. She's living up to it. On paper this was a really bad move but I can imagine that she got a lot of joy out of voting Sarah out lol so I don't blame her.

I feel like Spencer and Tasha are getting too much air time compared to their relevance in the game (right now). Spencer is kinda interesting, but I don't get why Tasha is getting so many confessionals - could mean she'll actually get far?

and I'm loving Tony, so entertaining lol.

Tony is an arrogant, egotistical twat nugget - who I went from loving to despising in a matter of 3 episodes.

Reminds me of some of the people who've won in this series.

Also, Bree... I think we have to credit Morgan for being here still because she's been shit out of luck the entire time. She doesn't get a good edit, but it was very telling how @ swap, the brains were iffy with everyone, but when it was time to vote someone out, Sarah, Alexis and Jeremiah were all considerable targets yet Morgan was no longer in question.

The girl does work.

That was a shocking tribal for real. I'm annoyed at Kass because even tho Sarah let the power go to her head and kinda deserved it, she screwed everyone over... especially her former tribemates (Tash/Spencer) so that pissed me off. I'm with Faith and cannot wait to see Morgan vs Kass haha

I don't think we've even had a single conversation, you and I. You didn't even have confessional access to me in S6, and weren't PWing in S5.

However, for whatever reason, you've had these things to say about me:

"Thiago is a pompous cunt who thinks he has people figured out. :-)"

"Thiago, still to me is an oversized bitchbag"

"My hatred for Thiago"

I mean come on. It's such a nasty way to speak about someone who has never said anything about you because I don't know you.

If you have some issue with me, just bring it up with me rather than these bizarre posts "throwing shade" (I'm learning "glingo") at my character all the time.

I actually like Tony by now. I went from hating him as a Hantz type to actually enjoying him, and I think the swap is what did it. He ignited his social game and is actually playing for real - even if he has certain Hantzian tendencies (you know, causing chaos via idols and lipping off about people, although he's NOT bullying them), he's playing to win. And he's charismatic and very entertaining to watch.

Morgan is awesome. And not just because of how gorgeous she is - she's playing very well, too. Like you said, Faith - she managed to avert the target despite Sarah accidentally outing her as a liar and has gone UTR. She's not in anyone's scope right now, although she might be after she starts verbally assaulting Kass (although Kass deserves it for such a personal move). Morgan seems to be picking her battles - she was smart to lie about her "choice" and then call out Jeremiah to try and put someone else on the bottom. After that, nothing much from her - she knew she was in a better position with the Brains, so why make herself a target? She may also be using her feminine wiles to get Spencer to like her more, but we aren't seeing that. I do think Morgan actually has a chance to win - there hasn't been enough to indicate either way. She might be getting an edit like Natalie White or Sophie Clarke did for all we know. That's why Sophie's win took me off guard. That and I didn't really like her because I agreed with Ozzy - she's a brat. Morgan isn't a brat in my opinion - she's a gorgeous girl who commands more attention than she wants to have.

Kass is going to find herself as a woman without a country. Tony and LJ don't have much use for her anymore and the entirety of NuAparri knows she's a rat. A lot hinges on who finds the "Tyler Perry Idol" (barf) and how they play it. I would really enjoy seeing someone from NuSolana blindsided with it, just so a Pagonging doesn't happen. The gameplay this season has been mostly boring and/or pathetically bad, at least until the merge - it has been the overall humorous tone that has made it very enjoyable for me.

Trish made a brilliant play by putting Kass in charge of NuSolana's vote, but that's the first time we've seen serious gameplay from her since Day 1 when she took the rice to avoid being on the bottom of her tribe. The only thing we saw since then was her rivalry with that pathetic mess Lindsey. No, Lindsey, you are NOT A ROLE MODEL. Mothers shouldn't follow the example of "oh, I can't handle holding myself back, so I quit." I don't see Trish winning given how she was portrayed in such a way with Lindsey. Lindsey had one of the most "positive" quits ever and too many sheeple are eating it up.

Right now, contenders for me:
LJ
Tony
Woo
Morgan

Hoping to see gone soon: Kass and Jefra (who is just... there)

This season's edit is unpredictable, so we'll see what happens!

Thiago hunty, I didn't give a fuck about you what-so-ever throughout all of S5 nor do I care about your confessional access in S6.

When you do rites of passage, don't shoot people down with derogatory shit. They go back and read it.

If YOU have a fucking problem with ME let me the fuck know. Because I was under the impression you knew me all too well so I started to act like I know you too :)

Ah, that's right, you're Laela also.

I spent a lot of time with Gloria who bashed you over and over in S5. My rites of passage in both my seasons were used strategically. I knew Gloria would appreciate what I had to say there, given I used some of her own phrases in it. It was an attempt to get her vote.

If you had an issue with it, you should have asked me as opposed to being passive aggressive for nearly a year now! Now you know.
