I considered a fun creative duel, but if someone just isn't creative or doesn't have photoshop or something then they're screwed. Though I guess if someone isn't good at puzzles and it's a puzzle duel then they're screwed that way! So who knows

Yeah. It could go either way. I feel like creativity ones would be more forgiving than puzzles or posting ones. You can luck out on them without needing a lot of skill.

I won at least one challenge on a glitching 7 year old laptop using a tethered phone for internet! Of course that was when I barely beat Sansa so it doesn't count really (:

Just giving the element of choice with the challenges does it I think. That way there's a strategy to it and you can potentially select your way out of something you're not good at. S1 nailed that on the head.

Yay being pathetic as usual!!
Please ask me on October 1st if they woke me up. I've literally never heard it before and I'm definitely not tired of it.

But with puzzles at least you're basically guaranteed to have the necessary materials to succeed. With creative challenges, if you only have a low-end program like MS Paint the likelihood of you winning are slim to none. I learned that the hard way EVERY single time an ORG I was in had some sort of creative challenge, especially merge-flag making

Then make the challenge restricted to MS Paint or a specific online art game of some sort.

I have GIMP and unless I'm not using it right it's still worse than Photoshop

It is but it's still viable for most things at a push. I don't really like the interface much and it used to crash all the time back when I used it. It was the first image editing software I worked with though.

Before I acquired photoshop I used pixlr a lot. It was pretty good for what I needed which was images for games.

Not sure how helpful it would be for an image making competition but it did quite a bit of stuff I don't understand.
