Stanley tolerated his co-workers, to put it mildly. He was here to do his job, collect his paycheck, and he didn't suffer fools.





But, this was different. He didn't like seeing his co-workers being killed off one by one and he didn't intend to be the next one to go. He had been scoping things out ever since David Wallace was killed. He intended to stop this nonsense and live to see pretzel day. He liked pretzel day.

With the discovery of im317, Penner and Lamps, he had a good idea of who else might be in on this with them. It was just a hunch, but tonight he was going to follow that hunch.

He took a last look at Lamps's picture which was tacked up on the bulletin board.

He left the office at his usual time - 5:00 pm on the dot! He didn't want any suspicion coming his way. He drove his car out of the parking lot and then drove around the block. He parked far enough away so that he wouldn't be seen, but close enough to see who entered/exited the office building.

After a while, he got a little bit hungry. He knew there was a big sheet cake in the break room refrigerator from the party Herm had been planning... RIP Herm, he thought. Well, this was an emergency. He looked around - the street was dark and not a soul was in sight. He made his decision.

Stanley got out of his car quietly. Then, he made his way through the shadows to the office and unlocked the door. He went up the stairs and into the office. That cake was calling to him.

The office was dark. He would get his cake and be out of here in a jiffy, then continue with his surveillance. The break room was illuminated by the microwave light. He opened the fridge and was very pleased to see the cake was untouched. He got a knife and cut out a big corner piece and put it on a paper plate. Now to make his exit.

Stanley laughed to himself. 'This is going great.'

'Oh, I'd better wash the knife and put it away,' he thought. He looked around but didn't see it anywhere. 'Oh well.' He shrugged and started to leave.

Suddenly, the lights in the break room turned on.


"Hi Stanley."


He knew that voice before he turned toward it.


"Hi yourself. What are you doing here so late?" he responded.

"Oh, I wanted some cake. I see you had the same idea," said the person.

"Yeah, okay. Go ahead, I'm outta here." said Stanley.

"What was that?"

"Did I stutter?" quipped Stanley.

"Oh, no, sorry. Well, have a good night, Stanley."

"Okay, you too."


Stanley turned his back to leave with his cake. As soon as he did, he felt the sharp pain of a knife thrust into his back. He hit the ground, dropping his cake. :(


His attacker leaned down and whispered to Stanley. "Life is short. Drive fast and leave a sexy corpse. That’s one of my mottos.”

"Hey, that's my motto," Stanley replied in a whisper, as the life was leaving his body.

"Goodnight Stanley."


Stanley was dead.
