if people aren't going to play to their win condition no matter what is, or even try a little bit, they shouldn't be signing up to play at all. I think that's a big part of the ethics.

Probably a dumb question, but what is pinging? I think we need more Vanilla Townies in the games here, but the problem is that a lot of people here tend to be pretty inactive if they get VT.

A ping is a notification

So like notifying someone that a game/day has started etc

I'm ok with "pinging" someone when a game starts, but after that, it's a bit dicey. People all know how to tell time, and they should know when a day is open or closed. If they choose to not post, then it's the players choice as to how to deal with them.

It's like on GLB when someone goes inactive and you type in the username account and say you lost your password and you get an email notification sent to that user? Yeah, that's pinging.

Or

It's when you send icmp packets to a destination in hopes that you get a reply meaning you can contact that remote machine.

I have signed up and had a game stretch into a holiday, etc that made me not be able to get on much. I have also had things come up irl that have kept me from getting on much before. So sometimes it's that and not that they signed up with no intention of playing.

I think it’s only an issue if it’s chronic.

That's different if there are reasons that keep you from getting on much, but if you're still showing up to contribute to the game, even just a little, I think that's fine. But if someone just decides they don't like their role and/or decide to not even bother after a couple of phases, it's kind of disrespectful to the mod(s) who put in the effort. Disrespect is unethical. lol

I can see that.

I mean, personally I don't mind if they play. I don't see color.
