Askia was feeling upbeat. He had expanded his borders, and was about to settle a second city, on the outskirts of the desert. He was rushing caravans, and they were well-equipped to deal with the intense conditions of the Sahara Desert, in which they traveled. The one thing he didn't think about, was the demand for water for his ever-growing city.
One of his neighbors sensed this weakness. With a small force of horsemen, this opponent attacked the citizen workers and pillaged both of the wells the Songhai people used to collect water. Without access to the water, the people began to revolt. It wasn't long before the citizens, suffering from intense thirst, rose up against Askia and removed him from power. This was the moment his adversary needed to march in, open up the wells, and take full control of the city.
As Askia's trial ended, and he was sentenced to exile in the vast desert, he could be heard to say "This is why only fringe loser peices of pure shit play mafia anymore"

Enrico Dandalo was a good judge of character. Or so he thought. When he saw one of his neighbors approaching with an army of swordsmen, he assumed he was passing by on his way to attack someone else. He even welcomed the leader into his masterful city of Venice for dinner and debauchery.
After about the fourth bottle of wine, Enrico's guest pulled a small knife from his waistband and slit the great leaders throat, right at his banquet table. By morning, Venice had fallen, its vast array of treasures were looted, and the city left to burn to the ground.

It is now the Medieval Era (Day 3). This era will end at 8 pm CT on Saturday. With 21 civilizations still in play, it'll take an unpopularity value of 11 to remove one directly from the game. Plurality is in effect.
