It depends on the people. I for one learned a great deal about how my actions affected you when you straight up told me so, and became more conscience of my behavior. Doesn't happen with rep, many of us have anxiety, depression, anger issues, paranoia etc. which are exacerbated by anonymous smiting. So the worst people act worse. And worse. And worse. As their rep gets lower, and lower, and lower. Doesn't help anyone, where a "Hey when you do X it makes me feel Y" leads to actual discussion and perhaps closure on silly feuds. | A survivor becomes a leader...

Again- I wouldn't reveal reputation information myself. Just playing devil's advocate to my good friend Bryce. | A survivor becomes a leader...

I addrep nofo more times in a month than I downrep anyone in that same time, but it's just asking to dredge up random drama between people that probably settled on its own ages ago, or would never boil over in the first place because people are overly paranoid about a number that means relatively little more than "hey i liked that thing you did" or "I think you're annoying today, be better."
Downrepping happens usually because someone was annoyed at the time, or they thought it would be funny, or they want attention. Suddenly deciding to air out everyone's dirty laundry is just divisive and asking to cause rifts between members, which isn't the kind of thing a staff member should be doing. They should be minimizing drama and issues between users to keep everyone active and relatively happy.
Drama happens. People are going to fight, and people are going to have spats and beefs and the usual stupid shit, but it's not a mod's job to butt in on everyone's baggage and issues and small personal spats, but it's doubly not a GOOD mod's job to fan the flames and set off new rivalries and anger and that's ALL that this would do.
I know the admin team has a rep for being too lenient or sometimes causing shit, but there's a reason they rarely actually share rep histories, and this is it. It's not useful in any way. It's divisive and destructive and the results will always be fucking annoying and nothing any of us want to deal with, involved or not.

I DO agree with this quite a bit tho! If people have actual issues with someone, take it to a PM and explain it.
It's a much more constructive way to deal with these sorts of things than anything else | d ( i n o s r o a ) r

Also, as a mod, you can't change member groups or unban members on your own, which makes it a promise that exists outside of your potential power. Do you believe you will be able to bring this discussion to the administration and have your voice heard well enough to implement the changes you're hoping to obtain? |
Of course I can't do it on my own.
I'd bring the discussion out and use my mod platform to try.
As for the rep system, it was asked of one of us. I didn't really come up with it out of thin air. Zersch and I discussed it and it was something we decided to put out there.

5. I, like many of you, am curious about why our reputation is the way it is. If you vote for me, I will give you a running list of your reputation when you ask me to.
This sounds like an absolutely terrible idea |
Agree, plus saying only those who vote for you seems like a threat. :P
Also, I don't really think anyone should be "talked to" about that nor do I think a mod should be that concerned with it. |
You have threat and incentive mixed.
But after reading, I do see how it would be destructive. I think in my mind, I would want to know my reputation so I can see who seems to have a problem with me and squash it. I wouldn't use it to kill people in games or to then serial smite them to feel good. So, I was more operating off of that than anything else.
If that is not something that would be desired, then I will take that away from my campaign. I'm definitely not looking to stir up peoples history or anything, but I really do hate the anonymity of reputation altogether.
I think the site would be 10x better without it

Throwing what shade? Because I said it was brought to my attention?
It was. Which made me think about it, which made me put it in my campaign. Shade? Or campaign changer, Jamie? You decide!
