How did you bump it without posting? I'm impressed.
I said no. A hot dog is it's own category. Has to be. It's too important.
I've had hot dog sandwiches before and it's not a hot dog.

I've come to the conclusion that it entirely depends on the bun tbh. If the back of it is 'connected', then it's really no different from a taco, which is obviously not a sandwich. But if there's two separate pieces of bread, then it becomes a sandwich

Though this throws a wrinkle in things when you run into hamburger buns like this:
one side of that is connected, which would mean that can't be a sandwich either

In a very general sense they're both bread products with no 'breaks' that you put toppings on. Just like there's a ton of variation with sandwiches but loosely it's two separate pieces of bread with toppings in the middle

I'm very middle of the road on this topic now. I can see it from both sides. I'm too afraid to take a side.
Did we really need to bring this back up, to cause more senseless deaths?

The law disagrees with your taco association:
In the United States, a court in Boston, Massachusetts ruled in 2006 that a sandwich includes at least two slices of bread.[1] and "under this definition, this court finds that the term 'sandwich' is not commonly understood to include burritos, tacos, and quesadillas, which are typically made with a single tortilla and stuffed with a choice filling of meat, rice, and beans."

Given that a traditional hot dog bun is similar to a sub roll (and in many places is referred to as a hot dog roll), the pollmeister rules that the hot dog is, indeed, a sandwich.

Actually a lobster roll is considered a seafood sandwich. Why should a hotdog be a special libtard cuck snowflake, same carb loaded delivery platform. I don't want to argue for this side though because for 30 years I never questioned a hotdog just being a hotdog and not a hotdog sandwich.
This topic is going to directly lead to me committing suicide, I can feel it.

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council says that a hot dog is just a hot dog and not a sandwich, but that's somewhat self-serving on their part (especially since they say "That's like saying the Dali Lama is just a guy", which actually argues against their own point. Yes, the Dali Lama is a guy, even if he is an extraordinary guy. So a hot dog is a just a sandwich, even if a special one, based on the NHDSC).
M-W also weighs in on the hot dog being a sandwich:

Much more importantly is the selection of bun. While most places have the bun sliced on the side, I prefer the split top, as it helps keep your hot dog from falling over.

I've never wanted to overthrow and usurp something as much as the head chair of the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.
