You are the town doctor and each night you will select 1 person and protect them from being killed. You may not pick yourself and you cannot select the same person on consecutive nights. If the person you selected is target it will be in the opening write up that he survived an attack.

Alright okay, while your argument is that the trains on Angi and Vernon could've been engineered by scum to save Buffy, I have an alternative theory.
First and foremost, I never got a particular scum vibe from Buffy which is why I never lynched her for saying that stuff about a Day Zero, I assume she was only lynched because of that reason for laughs. Since it was pretty likely that Buffy could've argued her way out of that lynch then it stands to reason that Lamps and Rose could've been facing ultimate tomato sauce death. So the way I see it, the lynch was instead pushed on Angi and Vernon, the only two candidates who had yet made any contributions at that point. That is how I see it of course.
