What movie did you watch last?
I finally got around to watching Lost In Translation. I loved it. Bill Murray is so great |
One of my top 10 movies of all time, possibly top five. Absolutely stunning.

Shattered Glass
Based on the true story of a young hotshot writer that completely fabricated/cooked the majority of the stories he turned in, and how his con slowly unraveled thanks to a dashing Steve Zahn. I wasn't expecting much out of a movie about a compulsively lying journalist, but it was pretty good.

Aunt? | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

Oh yeah I took your advice and saw Lost in Translation.
It was good, nothing spectacular, but intriguing nonetheless.

A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006)
Starring Shia LeBouf, Channing Tatum, Robert Downey Jr., and Chazz Palminteri - two actors I could live without and two actors I love. I was expecting some lame coming of age story, but it was surprisingly good. It's about Shia's character growing up in New York in the 80s and all of the trouble he and his friends get into. It had a very A Bronx Tale feel to it, but was much grittier.

Rock of Ages
Given that it's a jukebox musical, I had to forgive its story for essentially being constructed around 80's glam rock hits. But I don't have to forgive it for having such lame main characters! The couple around which the story revolves aren't compelling in the slightest, with the most obvious and predictable arc imaginable. But the supporting cast is fantastic; Bryan Cranston, Alec Baldwin, Russel Brand, Mary J. Blige, Paul Giamatti, and especially Tom Cruise are all great, and really provide for a fun experience that is worth seeing. Preferably with friends.
An interesting thing about it is how at first it seems to be mocking the excesses inherent to 80's rock music, like, I dunno, The Decline of Western Civilization Part 2. But as the movie goes on it seems to believe that it is all incredibly authentic, REAL MUSIC, has so much more integrity than hip-hop/pop. But the music has always been silly and not self-aware, so I'm not sure WHY the movie seems to hold it up like it does.

It's been so long since I've seen a movie that I HONESTLY forgot what the last one was :( I think The Muppets though?
And I'm seeing Ted this weekend so I'm really looking forward to that one (: | Please ask me on October 1st if they woke me up. I've literally never heard it before and I'm definitely not tired of it. |

finally got to see The Artist. oh man it was great. So much can get across without dialouge.
I never realised I could read lips quite as well as I did.
It's an enjoyable movie but you have to pay attention because it's for the most part entirely visual.

I saw Ted last night. It was pretty good. Nothing too special but there were a couple of really funny parts.
