The ride home seemed to take forever and he was relieved to see his home come into view. He paid the cab driver and headed for the steps.
Running up quickly, he tripped and fell on the third step. Then he noticed the pair of shoes right above him on the stoop.
He stood up and was about to greet the person, but they shoved him backwards. He fell down the steps, breaking his neck in the fall.
