Thanks for playing everybody in my first game! Sorry about the kinks every now and then with jcink. I wasn't aware that jcink was foreign to so many of you. That's my bad. If I could've done it again knowing that I would've done a regular open id game on the main site. I just have never made or skinned anything on ndim before so it never crossed my mind to learn all that when trying to get this game out as quicks as possible. Going forward, it's onsite for me! Sorry again about having it on jcink.

About this game and balancing, I really think I could've done better in hindsight. I kept out a town roleblocker and put in a mafia one to give them a lot of power. I gave them a role cop, a super ninja kill, a shapeshifter, and a doctor. I really tried to power them up so that if they lost someone N1 they could be as powerful regardless with 4 as they would be with 5. They were balanced around the first four of them being strongs with Penner's late addition to them just a big bonus in a +1 to their numbers, with a negative to him that if he was the last mafia standing he'd revert to third party and win with the Federation. I thought that was a good way to balance them with a Cult in the game.

Speaking of the cult, they had such bad luck and were doa from the start. But in fairness to them, it felt like the Mafia were nearly doa from the start as well with how unlucky things went for both factions day and night 1. But I'll get into that more later. The Borg, I gave the Queen the ability to recruit once each night and made her BP for the early game. Until she had 2 recruits or until the end of N3. This was to counterbalancer her dying immediately and the cult being nothing, but also not allowing for her to have free roam in the middle to late game.

The cult was extremely powerful and I wanted so badly for them to do well, but in balancing against their power I wonder if I went too hard there. I gave the Mafia a 1 time alarmist in case they wanted to try and hurt their opposite faction, despite them not being recruitable. Because they couldn't be recruited, I didn't want to give the Borg an easy "well, they couldn't be recruited, they must be Mafia cop type thing". Plus I wanted to give town a ton of ways to combat the cult. I gave them a 1 shot alarmist in the Joat's powers, a full time alarmist with Spock. Town had Nyota who could 2 times self commute and be untargetable, and Wesley who could 1 time hermit and turn away and reveal who visited him. Plus I made the two vig's unrecruitable but not BP, so that they could be killed but couldn't swap to the Borg.

The Federation was well stocked and ready to fight both factions. They even had a universal backup. Even now it seems like a lot, but that's mostly because of how badly D1 and N1 went. And it went badly for the scum. The main culprit of this from my point of view was the closed id nature of this game having a heavy effect on activity early on. How little people engaged and posted in D1 resulted in a very random lynch which got a mafia randomly, and then all the N1 actions that stemmed from that randomness being more random and getting Mafia and the Borg in deep trouble with the Borg being attacked by the Mafia, the Mafia being watched doing the attack, the Borg's recruit being stopped, and then...

Jean Luc Picard being like a cop god. For me, the host, I got to watch Picard use his 1 shot Mafia scanner to find mafia N1. He found out The Doctor was mafia. But then didn't show up the next day to post that info before the hammer took place on Penner. Then N2 he used his 1 shot Borg scanner and found out that Philippa was Borg. :lol: So I was melting down but thankfully he died that same night unable to reveal any of that info. :gay

But yeah, I feel like if I could do it again with this basic same setup, I'd take out Dax's role and make her vanilla, I'd take out Picard's role and make him vanilla or a 1 shot Role Cop, and I'd have taken out Gabriell's role and made him a nurse. And I'm 50/50 on whether I'd have kept the 2 shot commuter or not. But not this same setup again, I don't think I'd do a cult. They're so powerful and so much balance went into balancing against them, that when they got so unlucky early, the Fed was just beefy beefy and was always gonna destroy them at the very least.
