Well hello FE! It's been a couple years, crazy how time flies. Feels just like yesterday that I was still an incredibly socially inept pre pubescent boy playing Survivor ORGs and taking those experiences as 'life experiences'. Ah, 2011; the John Carroll days... what a clusterfuck that was. (:

Since mostly disconnecting from the ORG community back in 2015, I have since moved to the United States from the Netherlands. I have worked for 4 years now as a caregiver at a day program for adults with special needs, and I also went backpacking through Europe by myself for 5 months back in 2018. I also finally started going to college back in August. I'm studying film at the moment!

Which is what I'd like to essentially show off in this thread - I have gotten into editing quite a bit and have found a deep passion of making videos where I essentially select a film, cut the runtime to 3-4 minutes, and then synchronize the cut scenes with the rhythm of a particular track. I've done 7 videos at this point, and it's been such a nice form of creative outlet that has continued to fuel my passion for film and music. I'd like to share a couple of the videos I have made, specifically CURTIS, will love some of the choices I have made so far. Hope you guys enjoy!

I'll start off with one I just finished up last night!

Film: Persona (1966)
Director: Ingmar Bergman
Country: Sweden
--------------------
Artist: Slowdive
Track: Shine (1991)
Genre: Shoegaze

'Oh my god, it's full of stars!'

This one is rather simplistic and was by far the easiest one to make given it's just a singular scene, haha. But upon watching this film, I instantly knew I wanted to combine this track with this particular scene. Pure poetry and it's absolutely gorgeous!

Movie: Burning (2018)
Director: Lee Chang-dong
Country: South Korea
------------------------
Band: Ruby Haunt
Track: Stolen (2019)
Genre: Dream Pop

'Oh my god, it's full of stars!'

This is a film that Curtis actually introduced to me a couple years back, and it truly is a overlooked gem. It has grown to become one of my all-time favorites, as it truly is one of a kind. A 2 and a half hour heist film that is SHOT IN ONE TAKE. Even imagining how difficult the process was to make this film and get everything right within a singular take is mind-blowing given how much goes on during the actual film. It's a treat.

Film: Victoria (2015)
Director: Sebastian Schipper
Country: Germany
-----------------------
Artist: Com Truise
Tracks: Silicon Tare & Memory (2016/2017)
Genre: Electronic

'Oh my god, it's full of stars!'

This film is up to par with Call Me By Your Name in regards to showing the true heartbreaking realism regarding how unrequited love and silent longing is so sadly common amongst the lgbt community. It's a soft spoken and beautifully tender film that is far removed from the obnoxious agenda Hollywood has been trying to force down our throats these last couple years. I made this video on the same day that the track was released. <3

Film: Lovesong (2017)
Director: So Yong Kim
Country: USA
--------------------
Band: Still Corners
Track: Crying (2020)
Genre: Dream Pop

'Oh my god, it's full of stars!'

This one is kind of choppy given it was the first video I did when truly getting into this passion. Nothing special editing wise on my part, nothing special. But the film, as well as the band are both worth checking out! They are both phenomenal!

Film: Lost in Translation (2003)
Director: Sofia Coppola
Country: USA
---------------------
Band: Ruby Haunt
Track: Ivy (2017)
Genre: Dream Pop

'Oh my god, it's full of stars!'

This was probably the most awkward of all, as it was done 5 years ago. But this is my first real effort, and it isn't half bad. But definitely very choppy compared to some of my later efforts.

Film: Interstellar (2014)
Director: Christopher Nolan
Country: USA
----------------------
Band: M83
Track: Outro (2011)
Genre: Dream Pop/Ambient

'Oh my god, it's full of stars!'

Lastly, a German PSA classic. (:. David Bowie made the soundtrack to this traumatizing movie that was shown all throughout European high schools to deter teenagers from doing drugs. Wasn't made with that purpose in mind, and it's surely too explicit for that to ever happen in American schools, but it just happened somehow. By itself though, it's a grim slice of life film that will most likely shock you. Up to par with another classic; Requiem for a Dream.

Film: Christiane F. (1981)
Director: Uli Edel
Country: Germany
-----------------------
Band: Crystal Castles
Track: Suffocation (2010)
Genre: Electronic

Yeah, that is indeed quite strange. It got blocked in Sweden/Norway/Finland/Iceland/Denmark, which is crazy given I've never had a video be blocked in more than one country per video. Typically it's wherever the production company originates from... atleast that was the case with the 'Burning' (South Korea) and 'Victoria' (Germany) videos I did.

Great job Miko! I love watching stuff like this. Ill always watch a movie scene on mute and play some other track over it but Ive always been too lazy to actually edit any together. I love finding fun combos

M83 outro is the fucking best. Victoria, Burning, Lost in Translation. All great stuff

Reminds me of your days doing Sausage Island intro videos. Subscribed!

Definitely need a Good Time video. Its tempting to choose something against type aka NOT synthy but synth just goes so well with it. Maybe something like The Return from Stranger Things s2 mixed with the great ending. Or the great Eulogy from Stranger Things

Maybe some swapping between any track from Drive or Good Time or Uncut Gems with footage from another one of those three
