Went to the Xfinity race Saturday and they had a K&N East series race after. That race was better than the Xfinity race. 19 cars, 3 female drivers. Was pretty cool getting to watch the girls race live. They were as good as the guys, and weren’t afraid to trade paint. Top 3 or 4 cars were dominant though.
Sunday race was good also. NASCAR ain’t what it once was but living this close to the track now, I can’t pass it up. Especially with free tickets.
Can’t wait for Fathers Day weekend, that’s when NHRA comes to Bristol. I”ve never been to a big NHRA event.

Yeah, I been 3 times. It’s great. Twice back when you couldn’t get tickets when it was packed and last August. Last August it was about 40% full. Plenty of room to move around. You can get tickets now for $70 the day before the race. Hotel rates However are still sky high for race weekends.
It’s definitely worth going once.

Nope.
It was my own fault for poor planning. I had been told by some locals that it was $25-30 to get in. And I failed to verify that, lol. Plus my wife had told me my sons were planning on doing something really nice for me since it was FD. And since I’d been talking about the drag races for 6 months I assumed they were taking me. Well......
Turns out they were taking me golfing and out to eat on Sunday. So on Saturday me and my 2 sons ride up the the drag strip, park and head towards the gates with coolers and gear. Find out it’s $60 each to get in. So considering I didn’t have that kinda cash, since my sons were like, wait a minute, I’m not dropping $60 to get in. And I was like, well I can’t afford $180 for all of us to go. We decided to call it off. And went and played 9 holes instead.
Sunday we played 18 and they took me out to Outback for dinner. $120 for golf and $110 for dinner, which they split. So it was still a great weekend.
I plan on going next year and I got a year now to find some free tickets are at least save some cash.
