The annual Festival de Cannes (International Film Festival) started up again 2 days ago (it's the 70th year-anniversary) - for anyone who doesn't know what it is - it's basically a festival that shows a select-few films from all genres (including documentaries) from all around the world, all of which are from renowned indie Directors of whom all have a pretty impressive resume in regards to other films they have directed. It's usually amazing films that have some pretty impressive philosophical undertones and always have some sort of coming-of-age message coated underneath the topics the films handle with.

It's usually the best of the best. So for 2017 I'll be watching all the films that made it to the finals, and ranking them accordingly after I watch it (also including it within my general movie ranking list that I've been making since September last year for the personal top 250 films of all time list that is currently in the works). After the festival is over (May 28th) I will shortly there-after have a full ranking of the films featured at the festival (after each film featured has had it's official release date to the public). This year has an amazing line-up that I am so incredibly excited to delve into. Including 'You Were Never Really Here' by Lynne Ramsay, the film that'll include the soundtrack of Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead. I've been a big fan of Lynne for quite some time so I'm excited for this new film of hers! This year also includes the directors of films such as 'Lost In Translation' and 'The Artist' - so this should be amazing!! Here is the list I made of the films that are going to be featured this year, I included the directors most popular film to date behind their name:

I don't know much about how Cannes works but I know this movie is being screened as part of it and I've been looking forward to it for ages:

Ah, that movie is going to be screened in the parallel section as a special screening. Which is why I couldn't find it anywhere on the site. So it's not in the main competition. But it seems really great, I'll still check it out!
