Oh, and I still like a good western or other historical fiction.

My fave book has always been Lord of the Flies

We saw it as a musical in Memphis. It didn't translate very well.

Has anyone read The Wheel of Time?

Wondering if I should read that or The Sword of Truth.

The Wheel of Time was good, but there are so many books and they are LONG. It’s been many years, but I remember having to power through a bunch of them in the middle.

Read the Sword of Truth series too, a while back. It was alright. I think they tried to make a tv show out of it, which was predictably terrible.

Reading the Dragon tattoo books now. On book 2. They are really good so far.

Haven't seen any of the movies, but plan to after I read all of the books.

Also can’t decide if I want to finish Wheel of Time. I read the first three and then they started to feel like a slog and somewhat repetitive. Are they worth it?

Ender’s Game + Speaker for the Dead are probably my favorite in combination. That or anything by Brent Weeks.

Recently finished The Brothers Karamazov. Took forever, but it was well worth it.

Finished 'Revolution in the Head' today, a book which basically details how every Beatles song was recorded. Great read.

And I just started Submission by Michel Houellebecq.

Finished Submission by Michel Houellebecq...quick read. He's Frances most controversial author apparently, but I couldn't really see why reading this. It was definitely provocative, and I can see why it would piss off a certain crowd. But I think those who call him racist or some other nonsense are slandering him, and they almost certainly haven't read anything of his. It was a good satire, and one of the most interesting contemporary novels I've read.

I'm going to start Utopia for Realists next, by Rutger Bregman. I can't say I'm looking forward to it, but I'm gonna do my best to put my biases aside and be open minded. I'm not a fan of the guy from what I've seen. He appeared on BBC This Week and whinged on Twitter afterwards because the entire panel thought his ideas weren't very good. Very mature...

He's more well known for an aborted appearance on Tucker Carlson in which the latter had a meltdown after Rutger provoked him.

Btw, this is now the 'Books you recently read' thread.

In before any of you start shaming me for not working...I'm looking for a job. Albeit a part time job. Despite vowing I'd never work for an employer ever again after my first job. I'd much rather work for myself.

But needs must. I need a bit of income to support my never ending chase to make sustainable income out of my music.
