The mountain loomed over them like a buzzard circling a corpse.
They had been fleeing for several days now, and there wasn’t one among them that had more than a day left if they didn’t find food.
“Look” one of them said, “A light! There’s an entrance up there!”
“My God he’s right, if there’s someone up there maybe they have food!” Another said.
“Out of my way then!” cried another.
The group found the energy to scramble up the cliffs, kicking and scratching at one another along the way. They reached the entrance and found a lone torch standing guard over a wooden door.
“Who would live in such a place?” said the First.
“Let’s find out” said the Second.
The Third shoved the door open and led the expedition. They crossed through a series of winding tunnels. Some began to worry they might not find their way back to the entrance, but were quickly silenced by a smell almost forgotten; bread.
They pushed ahead and found themselves in a large room lit by several candles. A pedestal sat in the middle. With a large loaf of bread sitting upon it.
“That doesn’t look suspicious at all” The first said.
“It’s take the bait or die. I’d rather risk the bread than have to eat one of you” The second said.
Everyone looked at the second wearily.
“Don’t act like it hasn’t crossed your mind!” the second said.
Before they could say anything on the matter the third had approached the altar and grabbed the bread.
Flames shot up, incinerating the bread and severing the thirds hands. The third screamed and fell to the ground as the others backed away in horror.
The ground beneath them rumbled and they turned to see a massive metal doorway slam down over the way they had entered.
“A trap, just like I said, quickly, this way!” the First said, and the group ran toward another path.
KLANG.
Another door.
They rushed toward another opening. KLANG. Another. KLANG.
They were now trapped in the room with the altar. The third lay motionless on the ground.
One of the men began beating on a door, when suddenly a voice boomed out.
“Careful now.. I’d save my strength if I were you” The voice said, “You have little time left before you wither away”
“Who are you?”
“Your savior” The voice said, “I have food, much food. I also have a means of transportation, far from here. I’ve been looking for the right crew, you see. A good crew. One I can trust”
“What a welcome you’ve given us” The first said.
“Clearly your friend is not fit for the crew” The voice said.
“What do you want from us?” The second said.
“Everything” The voice said, “In time I will show you. First thing is first, are any of you infected?”
“You think we’d have an infected among us? Are you mad?” The first said.
“You tell me… I’ve only just met you . I do hope you are better than the last group. I’d like to leave this place” The voice said.
“Last group?” said the third.
“I should turn up the lights eh?” The voice said.
A series of lanterns sprung to life, revealing several skeletons that had gone unnoticed.
“Son of a bitch!” The second yelled.
The voice cackled.
“Do as good men do and you shan’t meet the fates of the previous. You shall join me in the sun, not perish in the darkness!” The voice said.
“What the hell do we do?” The second said.
“As the madman says” The first said.
“Who put you in charge?” The second said.
The group began to argue amongst themselves until a series of clicks sounded.
“That would be some of my chambers opening themselves to you. I’m a gracious host, you may find food within them. I’d give you lot no more than four days before you die of starvation. I will begin planning our journey to paradise on the seventh day.”
The group looked over each other suspiciously then looked at the doorways, followed soon after by their stomachs. Their empty stomachs and trembling hands. Paradise sure sounded lovely right about now.
RAGE MOUNTAIN- A MAFIA GAME?
Looking for at least 9 players. Will take as many players that are interested be it 9 or 90. Hopefully not 90. Looking to run the game tomorrow through Sunday. You do not have to play live. If everyone playing is active though the days and nights can be much shorter. Longer if there's less activity. |  A survivor becomes a leader...
