Final 21: In Which Matty Does Things (Occasionally Cool)

Sooooooooooo I figured I’d write like, something, give y’all a sense of where my head is at in the context of this game, maybe talk about some of the people I’ve talked to, all that good stuff y’know?

So, my overall strategy won’t be all that different from my other games. (Kenny apparently not doing a cast reveal is hilarious, by the way, and I’ll indulge it by not saying alias stuff.) But I’m tweaking some stuff around, having had a bit of a break from my last game. I feel like I tend to make good impressions on people, but because I put myself out on a limb so much in groupchats and whatnot, I put a target on my back sooner rather than later. So, I have a few ideas to counteract that.

First, I need to involve myself waaaaaaay more in one-on-one chats than in groupchats. I tend to use groupchats as a crutch to let people know about my activity, which is nice early on in the game, but to anyone NOT as OTT in the chats, it just says “oh this is an active player and he’s NOT talking to me as much as he’s chatting with the group, fuck this dude.” Also there’s always the risk that not everyone finds me as eminently hilarious as I obviously am - no one wants to be that guy getting shit talked in the confessional cause he’s obnoxious and doesn’t realize it.

So, I’m, backpedaling on the groupchat (both gamechat and eventual tribe chat) hardcore. I’ll be present, so no one thinks I’m inactive, but I want to be messaging them one-on-one more than anything else, because I feel like that’s where the deepest relationships are formed. This period of “pontification” and no gameplay has made me think about my approach a bit, and why I typically get pegged as that early-mid jury boot.

Besides that, not much else to say. My strategic game is fairly standard - form an alliance organically ASAP, stay loyal to them for as long as possible, and then flip and flop when its optimal. Granted, that’s assuming I fall into the power alliance come merge (let alone make the merge) but that’s just a general idea of how I think in these things. It’s better to underplay than overplay if you can help it, y’know?

ANYWAY that’s the general gameplan. I’ve been talking to people, and there’s a few people I get good vibes from (Rudy, Crystal) but I’ll talk about that more in depth when tribes are revealed. Hopefully I end up with at least one of them, but who fuckin’ knows.
